First of all, scorpions love the hot desert. What better place to call home than the Arizona desert? Scorpions have adapted to living in hot, dry conditions over the years and have chosen Arizona to call home. Why do they like the heat? Scorpions burrow their way into the ground to protect themselves from high temperatures and rainy conditions. Because the ground is dry and sandy in the desert of Arizona it is easy for scorpions to burrow themselves into the ground at the perfect depth. The sand is a great resource for them while they are making them tunnels. Scorpions have also taught themselves to go long periods of time without hydration. They also gather their fluids from the food that they eat so they do not need to have plentiful water sources near them. They get plenty of their nutrients from the things they eat in the desert. They cal also store the nutrients from the things they eat for a good deal of time so they can go periods without food if they need to. Scorpions are unique in the way that they hibernate. Unlike most creatures, scorpions can snap out of their hibernation at the drop of a hat. In fact, if they sense that there is prey near them they will come out of their hibernation to eat and then straight back to their sleep. Where do they live? While scorpions came to Arizona because of the desert sand, they can also be found living amongst your yard and children. Scorpions have the ability to adapt really easily, and they have done just that. Scorpions are happy to live in your grass or rocks as well. They will make do with whatever scenery they are given, because the overall temperature and climate in Arizona is a good fit.
If you have scorpions living amongst you, you can call a pest control company to come and remove them. While most scorpions are not poisonous, their bites are still very painful and they will terrify your children. We would highly suggest that you do not decide to allow scorpions to live amongst you in your home and yard.
