Living in Arizona means you are well aware of the dangers of scorpions. You likely see them often in your yard and possibly even inside of your home. How painful are stings?It is hard to classify the level of pain that is associated with being stung by a scorpion because the levels vary greatly. Some stings will only hurt moderately while others can be life threatening. Some of the reasons that stings very can come from the type of scorpion that stung you, as well as the age of the person who was stung. You can always give the person affected Acetaminophen to help with pain and swelling. Be sure not to puncture the skin or try to squeeze anything out of the source of the bite.

Scorpion stings can be much more dangerous for small children as it takes a lot less venom to travel throughout their small bodies. It is also always a good idea to kill the scorpion who stung the victim and take it with you to the heath care provider. A doctor will be able to identify the type of scorpion which will help them determine how dangerous the bite it. When in doubt, the best choice is to visit a heath care provider. If the affected area seems to be getting worse, you should seek medical treatment. If you can not get the pain under control there may be an infection or venom inside of your blood. It is always best to be overly safe if you are concerned about your health following a sting.
