How much do you know about scorpions? You would think living in Arizona would mean that you were an expert in all things scorpions. You would be surprised to learn that not very many Arizona residents actually know much about scorpions. Understanding all that you can is the best way to protect your kids from dangerous types and also keeping them outside of your home. How dangerous is the bark scorpion?Some people believe that the bark scorpion is one of the most dangerous types in the world. This isn't actually true. What is true though is that the bark scorpions has the moth lethal venom in the United States, making them one of the most dangerous in our backyards. They are around 3 inches in size and can easily be identified by their unique eyes. You are likely going to see a lot more of these scorpions in the winter months as they gather together. Lots of other scorpions will not live amongst others and especially not amongst other breeds, However, the bark scorpion does not mind and actually likes to be in a large group during the winter months. Not to mention, they give birth to about 35 little ones at a time. November and December are known months for an increase of scorpions inside of homes. Scorpions are looking for places to nest during these months and your home is a great place. If you start to see the number of scorpions increasing you need to jump on the problem quickly before they start to mate and multiply inside of your home during the late winter months and early spring. Why my house?A couple of reasons that a scorpion may have chosen your home include shade and the landscaping. Scorpions like to hangout in the heat, but in the shade. If you have great shade in your yard close to your house, they are going to gather there. They will also gather inside of your home in corners near baseboards where shade may be found.
Scorpions also have a thing for fruit trees and palm trees. If you have these types of trees in your yard it is a good idea to schedule regular pest control treatments. If that is not worth it to you, your other option would be to remove the trees so scorpions are not attracted to the area. These types of trees giving scorpions everything they need- food, shelter, and moisture.
