Depending on where you live in the world, there are things that you were going to have to teach your children when they are young. Whether you live near a deep ocean, in the desert, or near large Mountains, they're always going to be things that you have to teach your children to be aware of. Whether you were teaching them about sharks and jellyfish, scorpions and snakes, or mountain lions there are things that you have to teach your children and it may require you to think about it before you do. One thing is for sure, you don't want to go into this conversation with the motive of scaring your children. Sea creatures that live amongst us are one thing that we cannot get rid of. They're part of the place that we live, and we have to accept that and respect them. Teaching your children about these creatures and different animals is important for their safety. However it is also important that you do not make your children frightened of the place that they live. There is a fine line between understanding and being afraid and we're here to help you bridge that. The first thing we would suggest when you were teaching your young children about scorpions they may encounter in their backyard or area, is to really explain. The first thing that you should do is to explain what a scorpion is to your child. Don't start with the scary things about scorpions, instead start with the cool facts and backgrounds about scorpions. Explain to your little children why scorpions live in Arizona, and why they have to have defense mechanism. Explain that their Stingers are things that help them survive amongst their predators. Once children understand the basics about the creature, and why they have to protect themselves, it's easier to explain why we need to be careful around them. If they can understand that the Scorpion isn't out to get them as a person, instead it is only frightened of them. Teach your children that you need to respect the Scorpions feelings and avoid them. Explain that the Scorpion doesn't want hurt them, it's only trying to protect themselves because they're scared. Teach your children to respect these types of situations. A mutual respect for a scorpion and a child can help them learn to appreciate scorpions, yet not get in their way and to avoid them. What If'sIt's also important to explain to your child what happens if they do run into one of these creatures and do happen to be stung. Teaching your children what to do in a situation that they may very well encounter while living in Arizona is important. It is also important that you make sure that this is not their favorite part of the conversation. Young boys and other adventurous little children may be more interested in testing this what if it's a big part of the conversation. Let them know that they need to do everything to avoid this, but if it does happen this is what they should do. Make it a simple conversation and not something overly exciting or scary for them.
Teaching your children about scorpions doesn't necessarily need to be scary or frightening seater you. It simply needs to be something that you wanted to share with them and you wanted to educate them about. Talking to them like they are mature and can understand where you are coming from will resonate better with your children.
